GET TO KNOW YOUR COACH
I've already had a long life of being physically active! I am currently 27 years old from the Toronto, Ontario area. Born August 4th 1997. I became a Certified Personal Trainer in 2019 with Canfitpro. This came after many years of playing sports. I loved competition, I loved being active & I craved movement. Our bodies are made to move & movement is medicine! Aside from the physical aspects, I loved the sense of community. I loved surrounding myself with like minded people who also valued being active. I loved a challenge & overcoming obstacles. This built a sense of determination, social skills, & athletic experience that carried through from my adolescent life in sports to my adult life in the fitness industry. I grew up playing many different sports but soccer became my #1 sport. I played rep as well as provincial. I played from just 4 years old to 20 years old. I played in the OYSL & toured through the states competing in NCDAA D1-D3 showcase tournaments. I trained & learned from top level fitness coaches aside from just soccer coaches. This was where my initial fitness knowledge & interest began to take flight.
A strict soccer schedule is what set the foundation for discipline & accepting sacrifice in life. The “sacrifice” of missing social outings, parties, late nights with friends, etc. in exchange for reaching personal & performative goals. These sacrifices also included a specific diet in order to build muscle, speed & properly fuel my body. Many years of soccer training & built up resiliency primed me for success in fitness. Fitness & athletics go hand in hand as many athletes have intense training schedules that require the discipline & sacrifice similar to training for body recomposition or strength training. In order to achieve success in either category I’ve had to stay focused, set my priorities straight & be consistent. You will become what you do consistently, not what you do inconsistently.
I transitioned from soccer to fitness after an ACL injury. I ended up tearing my ACL as well as my lateral/medial meniscus not once, but twice. I also have a torn meniscus for the third time, that I currently live with. I could turn my injuries into excuses. Instead, I use them as learning curves & motivation to be better. To turn minor setbacks into major comebacks. To improve & pivot my training instead of not training at all. Since grade 9, I had a gym membership that I used sparingly. My injuries gave my gym membership a new found purpose. The gym had all the solutions to rehabilitating myself at my fingertips. I learned certain exercises to heal, build the muscle back & thrive more than ever. Spending impactful time on the gym floor is what lead to a love & appreciation for exercise overall & not just rehab.
Although I healed myself well, I knew the possibility of re-tearing again was not worth the risk. Third time's a charm didn't apply to this scenario. I wanted to fully commit to becoming strong. I decided to give up soccer & any major contact sport. The 5 days a week I had previously allotted for soccer then became allotted for the gym. I began training different muscle groups to build myself up against ALL future injuries & to avoid becoming frail or out of shape in years to come. My initial love for only athletics blossomed into a love for all things fitness, wellness & overall health. It has become a passion & an invigorating way of living that improves not only my quality but longevity of life.
Fitness is not just a hobby or an activity I partake in sometimes. I commit to staying fit day in and day out as a way of living to endlessly show respect to the body I am blessed with. Fitness and health is a topic I feel strongly about & deeply rooted in. This is what has lead to a love for coaching, to share what I know with others in order to improve their lives the way I've improved my own! I have over 10 years of experience with diet, nutrition & training, followed by a whole lifetime of athletics to back that up. I’ve been taught by many professionals in both fitness & sports while continuously being self taught through years of trial & error, on top of a certification. Let’s save you the time of trial & error that I went through. Time itself costs money, so let’s not waste it. Invest into your future today!
